e-scholar is a digital repository of Ontario Tech research that is provided by the Library.

e-scholar collects, preserves, and showcases the academic work of the Ontario Tech community, including faculty publications and graduate theses and dissertations.

Materials in e-scholar are openly available to the world and discoverable through search engines such as Google Scholar.

Why deposit to e-scholar?

  1. e-scholar will preserve your work using best practices for digital preservation.
  2. e-scholar provides a permanent URL to your submission, guaranteed never to break.
  3. e-scholar items are indexed by Google Scholar and other major search engines.
  4. e-scholar makes your work accessible to others without expensive open access fees.

Deposit Work in e-scholar@OntarioTech

First Time users:

  1. Register for a My e-scholar account.
  2. Use the feedback form when you have completed the registration. Specify which collection you request submission access - you will be notified when you have been authorized to submit. Make sure your email address is correct.

Once you are registered, Log in to e-scholar and follow the instructions to submit your materials. You can submit in one session or save and continue later. You will need to:

  • Choose the appropriate collection for your work
  • Provide information describing your work (some fields are required)
  • Upload your file(s)
  • Choose a Creative Commons license (CC) which defines what others are allowed to do with your work
    • You may also skip CC - the work will be publicly available to be read and downloaded but all rights will be retained.
  • Grant Ontario Tech the non-exclusive right to reproduce, translate, and/or distribute your submission

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can post articles?

All faculty, staff, and students at Ontario Tech are eligible to submit work to e-scholar. You can self-submit or the Library can do it for you. Use the feedback form to request further information.

How can I find out if my publisher will allow me to deposit my work in e-scholar?

You can check your publishing agreement for terms around depositing your work in an institutional repository, or search SHERPA/RoMEO for a listing of publisher copyright policies and self-archiving.

How do you find e-scholar?

From the library homepage, in the Resources section, or directly from https://ir.library.dc-uoit.ca.

Can I edit my submission once completed?

No, but you can Use the feedback form if you need to make corrections.
