Request a Digitization - Steps

What is a digitization?

If a resource is available, the Library may digitize single chapters or single articles from print books and journals by user request. Digitization requests are subject to the limitations of the Copyright Act and Fair Dealing. The digitized content will be provided online to the requester for their personal use. Faculty can also post digitized content in Canvas, subject to copyright guidelines. Email copyright@ontariotechu.ca for more information.

How to submit a digitization request

Search for the book or other material in Omni.

When you find it, select the title to go to the record.

If you do not find the book or material you are looking for, contact library@ontariotechu.ca for further assistance.

Go to the How to get it section of the record. Select Sign in

You will be prompted to log in with your Network ID.

Once you have signed in you will see any of the following options: Request / Digitization, or Get it from another library.

Select Digitization if you see that option. This means the book is currently available from the Ontario Tech Library.

If you see Get it from another library, that means the book is not available at Ontario Tech but it may be available at another library in our Omni network. Contact library@ontariotechu.ca for more information on how to request a digitization for a book not currently available at Ontario Tech.

Fill in any details you have about the part you want digitized. Add any additional comments as needed. Library staff will assess your request according to the Copyright Act and fair dealing guidelines.

Read and acknowledge the copyright statement and select Send Digitization Request

You will receive an email when your request has been processed or if further information is required.
