3D Printing at the Library

The Library 3D printing service offers two ways for you to 3D print your designs and projects. You can book a 3D printer, or submit 3D files for staff to print. We also provide learning opportunities such as appointments, a 3D Printing Tutorial and workshops (posted on the Library's Workshops and Events page).

3D Printing Fee: $0.10 per gram of material (filament) used

3D Printing Options

Before you book a 3D printer or submit a file, you must complete the following:

  • 3D Printing Tutorial (15 min.) - Note that completing this tutorial includes reading the Library 3D Printing Service Guidelines
  • Quiz (5 min.) - Six multiple choice questions. You must get 100%, but you can take the quiz multiple times.

Book a 3D Printer

Supervised, in person 3D printing takes place at the Library's Destress Desk near the North Oshawa Library entrance. Closely guided by a Library staff member, you will prepare your file for 3D printing, approve the material cost, and start the print on a Bambu 3D printer. Bookings are available three days per week. During your first booked appointment, staff will provide you with 20 min. of hands-on 3D printer training, including safety requirements.

Submit a File for 3D Printing

When you submit a file for 3D printing, Library staff provide you with a cost and a timeline for when it will be printed. Once you have approved the cost, staff will add your file to our print queue and contact you when it is complete. You can pick up at the North Oshawa Library Service Desk or the downtown library location). Staff print submitted files on three designated days of the week.
