About Perma.cc

Perma.cc is a free service to create permanent, online, archived documents of sources cited by scholars, journals, courts and others. Perma.cc is in wide use in the legal research community, in part due to the demonstrated link rot in Supreme Court opinions. Use Perma.cc when the source you are citing does not have a permanent URL. Blog posts, news articles, working papers, and other web pages that are live documents are good candidates for archiving using Perma.cc.

A Perma Record is the preserved copy of a web page you intend to cite. A Perma Link is the unique URL you can use to direct readers to a Perma Record.

For example, this Perma Link - http://perma.cc/9265-T4NB - points to a Perma Record of the White House homepage on November 18, 2015.
