About eScholar

Ontario Tech University's institutional repository is called eScholar. It stores, preserves and disseminates digital copies of the research and scholarly output of faculty, researchers, and students. Materials in eScholar are openly available and discoverable through search engines such as Google Scholar. This high visibility, discoverability, and exposure can lead to increased citation.  

Why Submit?

Increase Visibility: Because eScholar is indexed in major search engines, authors boost the discoverability and readership of their work. 

Ensure Longevity: eScholar assigns permanent URLs, so links will never change and your work will remain in a stable location online. In addition, we ensure uploaded files do no degrade or change over time. 

Comply with funding requirements: You can  comply with the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy by depositing your publication in eScholar when receiving funding from CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC. 

Retain Copyright: Authors retain copyright when submitting work to eScholar. 

Who can submit?

EScholar accepts submissions from members of the Ontario Tech University/Durham College community including faculty, staff, and students with faculty sponsorship. 

How does copyright work?

When uploading work to eScholar authors retain copyright and grant the library a universal non-exclusive license to distribute and preserve. The library can answer any questions on copyright and author rights [copyright@ontariotechu.ca]
