3D Printing

Print Requests

Unless otherwise requested, all objects are printed using default settings. Special settings requests may be noted in the form below.

Please note: if you are submitting multiple requests, you must open a new form each time (do not just refresh the form).

After submitting the request form, you will receive a response from a library staff member with an estimated print time, cost, and print date for your approval within about 1-2 business days. (Please note this may vary during busier print times)

Guidelines

  1. Printing for academic purposes takes priority. Example of academic purposes include prototyping objects, creating educational tools, or designing products for a thesis or capstone course. While prototypes will be printed, the Library cannot print multiple copies of objects that will be sold commercially.
  2. Printer use is limited to current students, faculty, and staff associated the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Durham College.
  3. Print jobs will be completed on a first come, first serve basis.
  4. Objects will only be printed during designated hours. As a result, approximately 10 hours is the maximum length for any print job.
  5. The library reserves the right to refuse print jobs that are deemed dangerous or inappropriate. This includes (but is not limited to) items under copyright, any items intended to be sold, items to be used for food or drug-related purposes, and weapons.

New to 3D Printing?

The Ontario Tech Library is happy to provide consultations to those who are new to 3D printing and would like additional assistance. The purpose of these consultations is to provide guidance about best practices, tips for making the most of your print, and to answer any design or technical questions. Note that the library staff will not assist you in the actual creation of your design, but instead will give you guidance.

To arrange for a consultation, please email library.3dprinting@ontariotechu.ca.
