Websites & Copyright

In general, publicly available websites, not behind paywalls, are meant to be viewed and interacted with. However, that does not necessarily mean that the information and layout of a website can be captured through screenshots and copying.

You may:

  • Share a link to the website
  • Reproduce information from the website in class materials, with attribution included
  • Display the website in a classroom setting

Without the permission of the copyright-holder, you may NOT:

  • Alter or edit or revise the website's content
  • Share or publish or redistribute the content outside an educational setting
  • Circumvent any paywalls or digital locks through link sharing

Before using:

  • Find a Terms of Use (also referred to as Terms of Services or Terms and Conditions) section, if applicable, and adhere to those terms outlined
  • Attribute the work including title, author, source and licence (if applicable) for the article in your teaching materials
